Proper ENGLISH was set up by the owner, Merilyn Potter, in 2008 following a long career assisting British businesses to export. 

Merilyn has lived and worked abroad during a career with the British Foreign Service. This was followed by further experience in banking, finance, business consultancy, and public relations.

Latterly she worked with the London Chamber of Commerce & Industry leading trade missions to all of the Latin American countries and advising individual companies on their prospects.

Merilyn is a fully qualified CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) which is endorsed by ESOL, part of the University of Cambridge.

What extra costs will I have to meet?

• Own refreshments 

• The cost of transport from and to the airport/railway station on arrival and departure

• Own workbooks, exercise books, dictionaries etc

• Own fares and entrance fees to attractions on organised visits.

Will I have my own room/bathroom?
Residential students have their own room with single bed overlooking the garden. You will share the family bathroom with your host teacher. Wireless internet access is available. No TV in the bedroom.

What other facilities will I have?
Residential students will live as part of the host teacher’s family and are welcome to join in activities, watch television and use the facilities of the house and garden.

What meals are included?
Meals are provided for residential students only. They will have breakfast, lunch and supper with the host teacher and her family.
